Bread has been here a long time and we still gorge ourselves with it. I use it as a metaphor for
something ordinary and simple, common and unremarkable. I get this feeling that we consume
so much unnecessary information and then we have to process and the basics, the important stuff,
escapes us. Often, we receive information we don’t even want. Visual smog, radio-terror in streets
and shops. Instead of things that directly concern us we spend time concerned with beauty in magazines,
relationships in TV soaps, adverts tell us what the good stuff is. Photographs of bread were taken during
a one year period and are a metaphor for the ordinary, simple, common and unremarkable things, a reminder
of something basic that often eludes us.
